NOTD: Wild Berry

Good Afternoon gorgeous girlies,

I am currently sporting this brand new polish which is Wild Berry by Ulta3. Yes the name of this nail polish is Wild Berry... personally I don't think it hits the spot but name aside I like this polish. It's a blue based grey which applied beautifully. It was smooth and just needed two coats. It's a wintery kind of colour so perfect for this time of year and unfortunately especially appropriate today where the weather is miserable. It's one of those non black colours which I love and need more of in my life! I find it has a bit warmth to it which is flattering and I have even managed to rack up some compliments so go Wild Berry!

What is currently on your tips?
I am planning on a bit of a nail polish shopping spree soon so would love your suggestions on some new colours to get!

Nail tutorial - Gold & Silver Leopard

Seeing as I'm going through a bit of a leopard print phase I thought I would have a crack at gold and silver leopard print. I think it's kind of cute so I thought I would show everyone step by step how I did it.

So here is how I got this result...

It was surprisingly simple to do and I used; Ulta3 polish in Antique Copper, Ulta3 polish in Silver Grey, Seche Vite, Black nail art pen and a thin paintbrush.

I started of by applying 2 coats of the gold colour for the base & let it dry completely.

Then using the paintbrush I used the silver polish to paint small random spots & shapes on each nail. It was really hard to capture the silver on the gold but hopefully these pics give you the general idea.

Next I outlined the silver spots with the black nail art pen. I wasn't too fussed being to precise so I just roughly went around the edges. Once the nail pen dried I applied a coat of Seche Vite. Make sure the nail art pen is compelety dry or you will smudge it like me. Patience is not my strength!

And that is it. Done and done

Hope everyone is having a great weekend and doing very productive things like painting their nails!

Orange Crush

Hey everyone,

I'm loving orange at the moment! I think it's really great for the hot weather. I'm not sure if orange suits me as much as other colours but I love it anyway! Some days I like to steer clear of pink and orange is a perfect substitute.

So here of some or the orangey toned  products I am loving. Some of them are probably more coral toned but for the purpose of this post i'm considering the to be orange :p

Benefit's Sugarbomb, Ulta3 polish in watermelon, Revlon lipstick in 24K orange, OCC lip tar in cha cha, Revlon polish in tropical temptation, Mac peached blush, Mac virgin isle cream colour base, Innoxa lipstick in rockmelon

Occ lip tar in cha cha, Revlon lipstick in 24k orange, Innoxa lipstick in rockmelon, Benefit's sugarbomb (just the orange section), Mac virgin isle cream colour base, Mac peaches blush

Without a doubt my favourite product here is Mac peaches blush, after a long search it was one of the first Mac blushes I ever bought and absolutely love the pop colour it adds.

I'm thinking I might have to invest to Mac Morange lipstick - now that's an orange lippie!

Are you an orange fan?

NOTD: Glitter

Yes another nail related post!

I seriously love painting my nails at the moment, I have been doing it about 5 times a week!

Sorry for the bad piccies my camera is still missing. Anyway here is what I'm currently wearing

As you can see I did a 'Lorraine' and painted one finger with glitter polish.

I used Maybelline Mini Colorama in bubblegum as the main colour. I have used this colour before & wasn't so keen on the quality and sheerness but this time for some reason it worked for me!

I used this super cheap Ulta3 glitter polish in Confetti. It's pretty rubbish and I ended up doing another coat after I took the snaps. I quite like the colours in it but I had to put so many layers on to get a decent amount of glitter, lucky it only cost $2.

I have since purchased a few more glitter polishes. I completely blame LorraineStanick for this new obsession. I used to not be a fan of glitter polish and I have to say it took me a while to come around  but now i kind of like it, especially when it's only on one finger.

Have you done a 'Lorraine'?

DIY: Ombre Nails

Hey pretty ladies :)

I saw this video on the Seventeen magazine website for ombre nails and knew i had to give it a go.

I can imagine it's a bit hit and miss for some people but I love the look, i think it's fun and I'm liking the ombre trend. So with that said here is my finished version..

This was my first attempt and I could definitely do with some practice! Overall I'm happy though and will probably try it again sometime. There is more variation between the nails than it appears in the photos but I think if i did it again I would probably try to make the nails a bit more different in terms of their shades as there isn't a lot of differences between some of my fingers especially my pinky and ring finger. Oh well lesson learnt.

It was a fairly simple process and here's what I used to get my purple shades.

Orly Bonder, OPI Lincoln Park After Dark, Ulta3 Lily White (which is just a plain white) and Orly Won't Chip. I also used a paper plate, a few toothpicks and a clean nail polish brush.

Overall the process was relatively easy. Here's what i did;
I started by applying a base coat, i used Orly Bonder
I then started with a coat of plain Lincoln Park After Dark and applied it to my pinky nail
Next I added a drop of white to Lincoln Park After Dark and mixed it with a toothpick on a paper plate and painted my ring finger
I kept adding a bit more white for every new nail until all my fingers were done
I finished off my applying a clear top cop and you're done!

I think Lincoln Park After Dark worked out to be a really good colour to use as it's a dark colour but has a lot of purple in it - i didn't realise how purpley it was until this. Obviously you can you whatever dark shade you like, i think i dark maroon and blue would be great too.

What do you think lovely ladies, love it or leave it?

RAWR

I really should be doing uni work but decided this would be much more fun.

Leopard print nails - my really bad first attempt haha. I'm definitely not going to show you my right hand!

I have to say this is the first time i have ventured into patterned nails so they are quite dodgy. Oh well no one will really be looking that closely. I kinda like them, they're a bit of fun.

Here is what i used. Looking at the colours now they seem more suited to a tiger, maybe next time...

I started off with two coats of Ulta3 Spring fling. I then used the small brush which i picked up really cheaply at spotlight to paint random splodges of China Glaze V and once that dried added an outline sort of thing in Ulta3 black stain. I then added a top coat and was done.

Don't know if this will be a regular thing as patience is not something i have lots of but i'm already thinking about what i can have a crack at next. I might have to check out the Konad kit.

Anyway back to the uni work i go :)

NOTD - Bubblegum

Here is my NOTD. It's Maybelline Mini Colorama in Bubblegum. It caught my eye the other days so I picked it up.

Here it is again;

When i first applied it i found it a bit thin and streaky so i decided to try it over a white polish which seemed to work okay. I applied one layer of white and then two layers of bubblegum. The colour is alright but i'm not blown away. In the shop it looked a more pinky which is really what i wanted but hey it was only around $5. It was a bit of a hassle to apply but having said that that it still is quite a pretty purple.

What i used
My hunt for the perfect pinky purple polish continues!

NOTD White!

I am currently sporting white nails with a touch of pink. I don't mind them but i don't know if i would go so far as to say i love white nails

I used two coats of Ulta3's lily white and over the top of that i used Revlon's Sweet Nothings in Please me pink (not that you can really tell from the photo!)

What do you guys think? Love them or hate them?

Black black black

Here is a very quick NOTD. It's another Ulta3 polish from my rapidly growing Ulta3 collection! It's just a plain black polish which I love as it matches any outfit.

Happy Saturday :)

NOTD Spring fling

After being so impressed with my freebie Ulta3 polish i picked up three more Spring fling being one of them

Spring fling is a beautiful pastel peach and i am loving it. I have been looking for a great peach and i think i might have found it for only $2!
The application was a bit tricky and it took a while to dry but overall i'm really pleased

I noticed 2 other colours by Ulta3 which came out in this spring range which look really pretty; spring blossom a pastel yellow and natural spring a cute light pink. As they are last season i hope i can pick them up somewhere.

Would love to know what you're currently wearing on your nails :)

Saturday Saturday!

Here is a peek at what my night will entail

Rather than doing anything exciting on a Saturday night this is what I plan to do and I am actually really looking forward to it!. I've had the Rae Morris book for ages but i have never really sat down and read it properly so tonight is the night, she is amazing. I also have to start thinking about applying for graduate jobs eeek. Might also paint my nails, dye my hair, play Super Mario Bros (geeky I know!) and fulfill my marshmallow craving. Should be fun.

Have a great weekend everyone!

NOTD

A few weeks ago I purchased a few things from crushcosmetics.com.au. When the package arrived they had included this nail polish as a free gift. This is the first time I used it & so far I am really impressed. It applied so easily & smoothly & dried really quickly so no smudges! 3 days on I am yet to get any chipping which is really good for me!

The colour is a light blue called Spring Shower & I quite like it. I was looking for a light blue polish before I got this one so they must have read my mind. In the picture I only have on one coat & didn’t need to apply a second.

I did a little research on the brand Ulta3 as had never heard of them before & was so impressed with this polish. They are an Australian brand & the nail polishes cost only $2 each. They seem to come in a wide variety of colours – fluoros, chromes, metallics, pastels, you name it. I will definitely be hunting down some more of these. For $2 a pop I can’t complain!

More Ulta3 nail polishes without a doubt coming soon :)
