Glitter Leopard

I got a bit adventurous with the nails today - Glitter leopard. I have been putting of an assignment I have like crazy and this is what I managed to do instead. Very productive I think :p

The photos don't quite do them justice. The leopard print does stand out more in real life and they are pretty sparkly which you can't quite tell in these pictures.

Here is what I used to create these babies.

It was super easy, here's what I did it;
I started off by applying my Orly base coat
I then applied 2 coats of Essie's Playa Del Platnium (which is a really nice greige)
I then used my Sally Hansen nail art pen and attempted (very dodgely) to create a leopard print pattern.
♥ Ove the top I applied a cheap glitter polish by BYS in silver over the top. The glitter layer works really well at it sort of disguises the leopard print if you have done a bad job like me, especially on my right hand. Next time I would use glitter with a thinner consistency as it covered up the leopard a bit more than I would have liked.

That's it! I was suprised with the amount of compliments I got about them today.  I want to do gold toned glitter leopard next time. I think that would be awesome.

Not long until the weekend, yay :)

Oh how I love you eBay

I bought this dress the other day on eBay for $15 and I LOVE it for that price. It was a bit of a gamble as my size varies depending on the brand and because i'm quite tall things are often too short but it fits like a glove woo hoo!

Anyway I thought I would show off my bargain (excuse the dodge iphone pic!)

Plus it has a cute bow on the back too!

It will be a perfect dress to wear to the races. My last assignment ever for uni is due in the 1st of November and the Melbourne cup is on the 2nd so I'm considering celebrating at the races. Just need something to wear on my head now.

I hope you all had a great weekend and it was more productive than mine. I spent the whole time procrastinating, whoops i'll pay for it this week!

Have you got any bargains recently?

Latest Purchase: L'Oreal gloss

Hey girlies

I was watching Tanya/Pixi2woo's Victoria Beckham tutorial (I can't get enough of her videos!) on youtube the other day and saw her use this lipgloss, it looked gorgeous on her so I picked one up.

It's the L'Oreal Glam Shine Liquid lip colour in Sand Crystal 06. I think it's a great name for the gloss,  it is a sandy colour which has lots of crystal shimmer - it just makes sense! I'm usually not so keen of really shimmery glosses but I don't mind this one, maybe because the gloss is quite a neutral colour? I'm not sure why but i really like it.

You can sort of get an idea of the shimmer in it in the above piccies.

I don't really own any other glosses like this one. I own quite a few pink and coral toned ones but nothing quite so gold or beige. As soon as I put it on I loved it. I would probably wear it in the evening as opposed to the day as I usually just wear lipbalm during the day and think it might be a bit OTT for uni! It's the sort of colour that now I own I think I will be reaching for all the time as it goes with most looks.

I love the applicator. I recently got Mac dazzleglass in smile so I been wearing it all week and have become used to the small brush applicator they have. This is so much easier I can just whack on even coat really quickly & easily. It has a great consistency too. After wearing smile all week this feels so much smoother and not as sticky, I'm impressed!

Here is a swatch on my lips. It definitely doesn't look anywhere near as gold on my lips but the swatch doesn't really capture the beige tone it does have (silly camera). As you can see when it's on it is quite sheer.

The only downside I have found is that it doesn't last that long and when it wears off you're left with sparkles on your lips. You know what I mean!? I hate that, I think that looks weird but anyway I can handle it as long I remember to reapply. I guess that is one of the downfalls of a gloss which isn't heaps sticky.

Have you tried any L'Oreal glamshine lipglosses?

Ooh la la OCC lip tar

I hope everyone is having a great weekend!
Here is a post to put some colour in your day - Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics lip tars!

I have been meaning to post about these for yonks but kept forgetting so here it is finally. I have been wanting to get some OCC lip tars for aggggges but I was never sure which colours to get and seeing as they are a bit tricky to get in Australia I never really got around to it. So when I discovered through Ariel's blog a place to buy samples sizes I knew I had to get some too!

I ended up getting samples of 8 different colours which cost US$20 + postage.

Top row: feathered, conquest, hush, memento
Bottom row: chacha, divine, grandma, anime

featured, conquest
chacha, divine

hush, memento
grandma, anime

Seriously these are amazing. I love them! As everyone says they are insanely pigmented and come in such an amazing range of gorgeous colours (I really want some of their new shades now). These samples are a great way of trying them out especially as I had no clue which ones I wanted and didn't want to fork out heaps of money for a whole tube of something I wouldn't use. It doesn't look like there is much in the samples but as I said they are so pigmented you need the teeniest amount.

I have read some reviews which said they are drying and I would have to agree. I get pretty dry lips so I have to make sure my lips are in good condition to wear these. I also pile on the lip balm and let it soak in before applying too. They have peppermint oil in them which feels nice and makes them smell yummy.
I love the whole idea of mixing the different colours too. I haven't been too experimental yet but I'm excited by all the possibilities.

You can get your own samples from Clara, just email her at zhanghuishi@gmail.com. She is so lovely and provides great service I definitely recommend her.

I'll leave you with a piccy of chacha. It's my favourite at the moment. I love wearing it with mac peaches blush and tons of mascara, Great for the warmer weather!

I made a very naughty Dior purchase which I shouldn't have made seeing as I'm saving but I'm itching to share it so keep an eye out for that post coming soon!

I want to be a Minx!

I have been lusting over Minx nails for a while now, especially the ones with gold cheetah print, they look so amazing. So I was having a bit if a look on ebay and stumbled across these nail patches by Vivi Nail. They were pretty cheap so I figured I would give them a shot. FYI I got them here.

As you can see they are individual nail shapes which you apply to your nails. Kind of like contact for you fingers! They are not as opaque as I was wanting, as you can see in the above piccy, but I guess that it what to expect for cheap ones on ebay.

The pack came with 20 so you have enough to find the right size for each of your fingers. Once you have found the right size you simply take of the front and back cover and stick it right on. Then you press in into the nail and file off the excess at the tip of the nail. Here is the result;

They look a bit better in real life, my camera just decided not to cooperate.

Loves;
  • Really easy to apply - took me about 3 minutes
  • Not having to wait for them to dry! For someone as impatient as me it's so great not having to wait for them to dry
  • Range of colours they come in
  • They lasted longer than I find nail polish lasts on me - probably about a week all up
  • They were cheap
Hates ;
  • One came off within an hour of putting them on & I lost another the day after (later found it stuck on the side of my jeans haha, hope it hadn't been there long)
  •  After about 2 days they started to wear down at the tips as you can see in the picture below shows
  • The mess - I was left with heaps of little clear plastic covers which I am still finding all over the place

Here is a random snap of me showing off my new ring. I probably didn't need it as I have thing for rings & it was too cute to resist!

These were alright for cheapies and I got a lot of compliments but they have just made me want to want to get some real Minx ones now, I wish I wasn't watching my pennies saving for Thailand! The brand Incoco look like they have a nice range, I will be checking them out too.

Have you tried adhesive nail strips like these?

Meet Rose!

Hello lovelies,

Let me introduce you to this little gem - Trilogy's rose hip oil. If you have already heard of it then don't you already looove it?!

I have been using this on & off over the last few months and am impressed. It's an oil which as first I was not sure about but after giving it a whirl I am hooked.

It contains antioxidants and 80% essential fatty acids to promote the repair and rejuvenation of skin cells and lots of other good stuff. It is also proven to approve the appearance of ;
  • scars by up to 41%
  • stretch marks by up to 43%
  • wrinkles by up to 23%

I generally apply it at night before I go to bed, sometimes I whack my moisturiser over the top depending on how lazy I'm feeling. Occasionally I add some to my moisturiser in the morning but generally don't bother because I don't really want any greasyness during the day.

It hydrates like nothing else! I have really dry skin, especially in winter but I have found that this stuff really helps out. I have only had this during the cold months so I'm sure if I will use it much in summer, I guess time will tell.

As you can see it's a yellow oil. I put about 5-6 drops on the back of my hand and massage all over my face. It applies really smoothly and sinks in relatively well.  Where I apply the drops on the back of my hand actually feels softer!

My only gripe is the smell. I'm not a fan which is one of the reasons why I apply it at night so I don't really have to smell it much.

Trilogy products are naturally produced as well as being both ethically and environmentally responsible - bonus!

I totally recommend it especially for those of you who are heading into the colder months, it makes my skin feel so soft and glowy!
