Where have you been all my life Tom Ford?

Why, hello Tom Ford’s Lip Colour in True Coral lipstick. This lipstick is spectacular… it’s like happiness in a tiny tube!

Where do I begin?!

The packaging is to die for. A sleek  and simple tube with gold trim. I almost want to pull it out of my bag when I’m out and about just to flash this baby about. It doesn’t get much better than this.

It took a lot of effort to even begin using the lipstick because I couldn’t bring myself  to touch the TF mark. Sigh. BUT it was most definitely worth it.

True coral is a vibrant bright red-coral, just like its name! Unlike the more common orangey coral this is most definitely a devilish toned lippie. It instantly warms and brightens my complexion...

Formula-wise, True Coral is highly pigmented which means in just one swipe you can have a gorgeous opaque pop of coral. The texture is beautifully creamy  and the colour is true to tube. And despite the creaminess it does actually have staying power without excessive drying and flaking. It lasts and lasts, seriously. Boom! Apart from eating and drinking this lipstick will stick around which considering what a bright colour it is is a major plus in my book.

If you want a semi matte, bold, pop of colour and want to splurge, this baby is it! At AU$65 a pop this lipstick is pricey but worth every $. The quality is amazing… great colour payoff, super pigmented & super creamy. So much brilliance in such a small tube!

Pucker up with Back2Mac!

Hello, I hope you all had a lovely weekend :)

I finally got around to gathering together my empty Mac containers to swap them for some new lipsticks with the Back2Mac program. I'm sure you know what Back2Mac is but just in case you're not it's Mac's recycling program where you return 6 empty Mac containers and in return get a free lippie.

I knew I had a few empties but was surprised and a bit excited when I realised I had exactly 18 which meant 3 new lippies woo hoo! So these are the 3 gorgeous colours I went with. . .

I had my sights on Vegas Volt for ages so this one was a definite. Vegas Volt is a beautiful creamy coral with a tiny hint of pink. Can't wait for summer to pull this one out!

My second choice was going to be Hue but they were sold out so I went with Shy Girl instead which as you can see was a good decision. I have already made my mark on this baby. It's a peachy nude with a really smooth formula. Would be perfect paired with a smokey eye.

I struggled to choose a 3rd colour because they are all great but decided to go with Girl About Town as I don't really have anything like it in my collection and I'm glad I did. Girl about town is a bright and bold fuchsia pink. I haven't worn this one too much yet but am itching to try it when I have somewhere appropriate to wear it!

Swatch time...
Girl About Town, Vegas Volt and Shy Girl

What can I say apart from I LOVE Back to MAC! What girl can argue with free lipstick whilst saving the environment?!
So far I am happy with each and everyone of my new lippies. Expect some FOTDs featuring them soon in the near future.

Enjoy the week,
Imogen :)

Switching to the Dark Side

.
Happy Tuesday!

After coming very close to purchasing Mac Media lipstick a while ago common sense kicked in at the last minute and I realised that in reality it's not a colour I would wear often and I really should go with a cheaper version instead. This led me to pick up Maxfactor's So Berry. It was pretty much the first dark colour I came across that I liked and happened to be on sale (I took that as a sign!).

Anyway the weather is lousy today (winter is most definitely on its way boo hoo) so I decided to ditch the brights and play around with a dark lip.

So Berry is a really pretty deep berry colour but I am really not used to seeing myself wear such a dark lip, it's such a dramatic change! I actually don't mind it but can't imagine myself wearing it out anytime soon. One reason being that my friend told me I looked scary haha. Maybe in the middle of winter I might pull it out again and have a play.

As I only have dodgey webcam pics of me wearing it here is a swatch. The colour and intensity of this lipstick can definitely be built up which is great. As you can see the swatch is a bit lighter and you can add more of a berry tint to the lips unlike in the pics of me wearing it piled on. If I am ever brave enough to wear it I think I will start out sheer and work my way up!

Plus because I can here is a pic of the rings I am currenlty sporting. The one on the left is from Diva & the right I think I picked up from some market stall.

Be honest, does it scare you or you a fan or the dark side?

MAC Pink Nouveau dupe

 .
Good Morning :)

After wearing Mac Pink Nouveau lipstick the other night (you can check it out here) I realised that I owned another lippie which was really similar. That would be Revlon's matte lipstick in Stormy Pink.

Both lipsticks are bright pinks with similar undertones. Stormy Pink is not as vivid in colour as Pink Nouveau and is definitely not as pigmented but you can build up the intensity.

Here is the swatch..
Left - Revlon Stormy Pink, Right - Mac Pink Nouveau

Although they have slightly different finishes - Pink Nouveau is a satin finish and Stormy Pink is matte, they are not worlds apart as satin lipsticks have a semi-matte finish. Stormy Pink definitely deserves an A in duping, what do you think?

I prefer Pink Nouveau as it's a bit more intense and not as drying as the Revlon matte lipsticks but If you want a cheap alternative for Pink Nouveau or maybe are not sure as to whether or not Pink Nouveau is the colour for you I recommend you check out Stormy Pink.

 Much love,
Imogen

Ooh la la OCC lip tar

I hope everyone is having a great weekend!
Here is a post to put some colour in your day - Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics lip tars!

I have been meaning to post about these for yonks but kept forgetting so here it is finally. I have been wanting to get some OCC lip tars for aggggges but I was never sure which colours to get and seeing as they are a bit tricky to get in Australia I never really got around to it. So when I discovered through Ariel's blog a place to buy samples sizes I knew I had to get some too!

I ended up getting samples of 8 different colours which cost US$20 + postage.

Top row: feathered, conquest, hush, memento
Bottom row: chacha, divine, grandma, anime

featured, conquest
chacha, divine

hush, memento
grandma, anime

Seriously these are amazing. I love them! As everyone says they are insanely pigmented and come in such an amazing range of gorgeous colours (I really want some of their new shades now). These samples are a great way of trying them out especially as I had no clue which ones I wanted and didn't want to fork out heaps of money for a whole tube of something I wouldn't use. It doesn't look like there is much in the samples but as I said they are so pigmented you need the teeniest amount.

I have read some reviews which said they are drying and I would have to agree. I get pretty dry lips so I have to make sure my lips are in good condition to wear these. I also pile on the lip balm and let it soak in before applying too. They have peppermint oil in them which feels nice and makes them smell yummy.
I love the whole idea of mixing the different colours too. I haven't been too experimental yet but I'm excited by all the possibilities.

You can get your own samples from Clara, just email her at zhanghuishi@gmail.com. She is so lovely and provides great service I definitely recommend her.

I'll leave you with a piccy of chacha. It's my favourite at the moment. I love wearing it with mac peaches blush and tons of mascara, Great for the warmer weather!

I made a very naughty Dior purchase which I shouldn't have made seeing as I'm saving but I'm itching to share it so keep an eye out for that post coming soon!

Colour crafted dupe?

I missed out on MAC colour crafted lipstick as i was on holidays in Samoa at the time (no lipstick in sight!) and ever since i have wanted to get my hands on one. I came across this on Laura's (lollipop26) blog in my search for a dupe. She said that NYX Acapulco was pretty much a dupe for colour crafted, so i ordered one!

The lipstick is okay but i haven't been overly impressed. It's from the black label range so it comes in a cute little black container with a lace pattern printed on it. It also has a clear section in the bottom to see the colour which is handy when trying to find the item in your makeup bag. It smells exactly like grape hubba bubba bubble gum which i love but is a bit of a weird smell for a lippy - it's like being 8 again!

The colour is great, it's a sweet sort of girly pink. It has great pigmentation for a cheapy lipstick and can be worn sheerly or packed on for a brighter colour.

Acapulco applies easily and smoothly but my one major gripe is that it does not last. The texture is so creamy that it will not stay put! This means it is not drying which is great as i suffer from really dry lips but that's useless if it doesn't last.

I will not be repurchasing this lipstick and will probably not use it that often as I can be really lazy at touching up :)

So the search continues for the perfect pink! Anyone have any suggestions?

Lips lips lips!

I have had this picture on my computer for ages and felt inspired tonight. This look was on the catwalk mid last year and I’ve been itching to try it ever since. The look for the Emanuel Engaro show and I think it’s cute.

This is my version of two toned lips. I highly doubt I would ever wear this look out in public but it was fun to try. The maintenance alone would be too much to handle if I went out, even when I was mucking around at home the colours kept mixing together which would be so frustrating to keep touching up!

So what does everyone think about two-toned lips. Do you even like them? Would you ever wear them out in public? I would love to hear your opinions!
